5 hospitalized in crash after Mass. police chase reaches 130 mph, police say
State Police said troopers first tried to pull over the BMW on Route 24 around 4 a.m. Monday.
Five people were hospitalized after a high-speed chase on Route 24 ended with a crash in Taunton early Monday morning, Massachusetts State Police said.
A state police trooper first saw the white BMW X5 around 4 a.m. Monday in southeast Massachusetts and estimated their speed at more than 100 mph. The trooper then tried to stop the vehicle, which accelerated, according to State Police.
During the chase, police said the BMW reached speeds of around 130 mph to avoid troopers.
“A short time later, the vehicle lost control and crashed in Taunton,” State Police spokesperson said in a statement.
Troopers who responded to the incident performed first aid on the five people in the vehicle, who were all transported to local hospitals in stable conditions, the spokesperson said.

The investigation is ongoing, and any charges will be announced at a later date, according to State Police.
