A 1-month old boy who was reported missing in Connecticut over the weekend along with his mother has died, authorities announced.
The boy and his mother, Sadie Fleming, were found Sunday evening in a wooded area of Washington, Connecticut, according to state police. Fleming was taken to a local hospital for “advanced medical treatment.”
A Silver Alert was issued by state police earlier on Sunday after the mother and baby were reported missing in the area of Brinsdale Road in Washington. Police determined Fleming left her home on Sunday between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. with her infant son, Hudson.
Sadie Fleming was found around 5:45 p.m. “in need of medical attention” in the wooded area, police said. She was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital.
The baby was found nearby in the woodline, police said. He was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
“There is no threat to the public and this is all the information available for release at this time, based on the nature of the investigation,” police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed Sadie Fleming during the time she was missing or who has any information is being asked to contact Detective Daniel Koehler at 860-626-7900.
