Boston police are investigating a woman’s death after her body was found Tuesday morning near an East Boston recreation trail.
Just before 7 a.m., officers responded to a call for a body found in the area of South Bremen and Marginal streets near the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway rail trail, according to Sergeant Detective John Boyle. Fire officials and State Police also responded to the scene, where officers found an unresponsive female.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the body, Boyle said. The woman’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
Police are investigating the woman’s death but found no signs of foul play and did not rule it a homicide, according to Boyle. No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.
