A husband and wife from Westport, Massachusetts were killed in a motor vehicle crash Sunday morning in Dartmouth, according to the Bristol County District Attorney.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dartmouth police responded to a reported two-car crash in front of 422 Old Westport Road.
Police found two cars, one a gray Toyota Rav 4 operated by Philip Morris, 63, of Dartmouth. Jeffrey Moniz, 76, and his wife Diane Moniz, 76, both of Westport, occupied the other vehicle, a Toyota Echo.
A police investigation revealed that Morris crossed the double yellow line and struck the Toyota Echo head-on. EMS personnel found Jeffery and Diane Moniz with traumatic injuries and transported them to a local hospital, where they were both pronounced dead.
The driver of the other vehicle, Morris, had minor injuries. He was charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and a marked lanes violation.
The Bristol County District Attorney’s office and the Dartmouth Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
