A 24-year-old Army veteran vacationing on Cape Cod was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday night, authorities announced.
Timothy Duval of Tallahassee, Florida, was walking in Wellfleet when he was fatally struck, Wellfleet police said. Duval, who was married and the father of a 3-year-old, was visiting the area and spending the evening with a group of friends., according to police. At some point he separated from the group and was walking along Ocean View Drive when he was struck, the department said.
Investigators believe he was hit by a pickup truck or a SUV based on his injuries.
“The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation,” police said.
Police said investigators are following multiple leads, but as of Monday, no arrests have been made.
The department is asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
“Surveillance footage, dashcam videos, or eyewitness accounts from the night of the incident could prove crucial in determining what happened and identify those responsible,” police said.
