After one year of being overthrown, “Olivia” tops Massachusetts’s list of the most popular baby girl names in 2024.
The Social Security Administration released its annual list last week of the most popular baby names in every U.S. state. “Olivia,” “Charlotte,” and “Emma” are the most popular girl names, while “Noah,” “Liam,” and “Oliver” top the boy names list.
In 2023, “Charlotte” took the first spot and ended a four-year “Olivia” streak. The top three girl names have been in a combination of different orders since 2019.
For the boys, “Noah” and “Liam” have maintained their number one and two spots since 2020.
The popularity of other names on both lists has risen and fallen from 2023. “Wesley,” “Elias,” and “Carter” have each grown in popularity, as well as “Violet,” “Ayla,” and “Lillian.”
“Myles” and “Rory” have fallen significantly, alongside “Stella” and “Ruby.”
Some names — like “Isabel” and “Emerson” for the girls and “Calvin” and “Roman” for the boys — make their first appearance on both lists, among 17 other names.
Here are the top 100 baby names for both boys and girls and their popularity change from 2023:
