A 77-year-old woman died Tuesday after crashing her car into other cars and a pedestrian in a Shaw’s parking lot in Orleans, officials said.
Orleans police responded to 9 West Road in the afternoon on May 13 after two people were reported injured in a car crash, the department said in a statement. Police found the 77-year-old driver with serious injuries and a pedestrian with non life threatening injuries, the department said.
An early investigation suggests the woman was reversing out of a parking space and accelerated into several other cars and one person, according to the statement.
The driver was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for her injuries and was pronounced dead later that day, said Sergeant Hannah Greene in an email.
The crash is being investigated by the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement accident reconstruction unit and the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner.
