A juvenile girl died Monday after being struck by a car in Springfield.
At about 5 p.m., an officer working at Baystate Medical Center reported that a juvenile girl was “privately transported” to the hospital after she was involved in a crash. She died from her injuries at Baystate, according to Ryan Walsh, public information officer for the Springfield Police Department.
Officials determined that the crash occurred in the 0-100 block of Newland Street. The circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear. Walsh only said that the victim was “struck” and that “all parties involved have been accounted for.”
The victim’s name and age have not been released.
The Hampden District Attorney’s Office and Springfield police are conducting an ongoing investigation.
