Former Emmanuel admissions official allegedly also approached 13-year-old ‘for some fun’

Jacob Henriques was arrested last week for allegedly offering to pay a 17-year-old prospective Emmanuel student for sex.

A former assistant admissions director at Emmanuel College who allegedly propositioned a prospective student for sex is facing new accusations that he tried a similar tactic with a 13-year-old.

Jacob Henriques, 29, of Boston was arrested last week and charged with one count of attempted sex trafficking of a minor. Prosecutors say he used his position to gain access to the personal information of a 17-year-old and that he offered to pay her for “some fun” after she toured Emmanuel.

Henriques was fired by the school and arraigned Monday in U.S. District Court in Boston. A judge ordered that he be held without bail until hearings scheduled on Wednesday.

While prosecutors focused on his alleged interactions with the 17-year-old, Henriques allegedly contacted a 13-year-old Western Massachusetts girl days earlier to make similar propositions. He contacted her via Instagram, asking if she was “down to have fun” and offering to “pay tonight,” according to court documents obtained by The Boston Globe.

The alleged interaction with the 13-year-old occurred on April 20, per the Globe. FBI agents learned about it on April 22. It is unclear whether the 13-year-old was a prospective student.

Henriques’s’ lawyer, Monica Shah, did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Prosecutors said that Henriques met with multiple admitted or prospective students on April 25 and subsequently offered to pay four of them for “some fun.” They also say he offered to share pornography with them.

Regarding the 17-year old, Henriques allegedly reviewed her personal information, including her date of birth, just before giving her a tour of Emmanuel. He began texting her within hours of finishing the tour, using the number she provided to the college. He refused to tell the girl who he was or how he got her number, prosecutors said.

Henriques allegedly sent the 17-year-old pornographic videos, asked whether she wanted to have sex with him, and continued to solicit her via email once she refused and blocked his number. Between April 25 and April 28, he allegedly accessed the girl’s profile within the Emmanuel system 47 times.
