A 25-year-old man was arrested in Swansea on Wednesday for allegedly filming a teenager in a fitting room at Target, officials say.
On Monday at 8 p.m., Swansea Police responded to a Target store located at 579 Grand Army of the Republic Highway after receiving a report that a 17-year-old girl was filmed inside the dressing room, according to a statement from Swansea Police.
“This kind of invasive and disturbing behavior has no place in our community,” Swansea Police Chief Mark Foley said. “We take incidents like this very seriously and will always work to protect the most vulnerable members of our community.
After an investigation, which included reviewing surveillance video footage, police alleged that John Michael Williams of Swansea used his cellphone to film the girl, who was nude while changing in the dressing room. His cellphone was seized as evidence.
Williams was arrested on Wednesday at a Swansea residence and taken to the Swansea Police Department to be booked, the statement said. He is charged with photographing sexual or intimate parts of a child, possession of child pornography, and disorderly conduct.
Williams was expected to be arraigned on Thursday in Fall River District Court.
