A 65-year-old man was found dead inside a vehicle submerged in a canal in Lowell on Wednesday morning, officials say.
At 9:10 a.m., a pedestrian called Lowell police to report a vehicle in the canal near Canal Street, according to a spokesperson from the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities found the Lowell man dead inside the vehicle, and responding agencies removed the vehicle from the canal.
An investigation revealed that the vehicle had crashed through a fence before entering the canal at about 3 a.m., the spokesperson said.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, the spokesperson said, and there is “no evidence of foul play.”
