Authorities are investigating the murder of a 19-year-old man who was shot and killed Tuesday night in New Bedford.
New Bedford police responded to a ShotSpotter alert and a 9-1-1 call around 10 p.m. to the area of Acushnet Avenue near Griffin Court, the Bristol County District Attorney’s office said in a statement.
Officers found the teen parked in a car on the east side of Achushnet Avenue with a gunshot wound to his head. The car also had multiple “projectile strikes,” according to the DA’s office.
The young man was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead, prosecutors said.
“The investigation is extremely active,” the DA’s office said.
