“Despite rumors circulating online, there were no weapons, no physical altercations, and no injuries reported at any time” at the McKinley School Carnival in Fairfield, Connecticut, local police reported this week.

However, there was quite a bit of fart spray.

Apparently, some young carnival-goers took to spraying the smelly mist near the exit to the event on Friday evening, causing “small groups to scream and run,” Fairfield police reported. “Toward the end of the evening, a larger reaction occurred, triggering a ripple effect as others began running without knowing the cause.”

Fart spray, also known as flatulence spray, produces a foul odor in the immediate vicinity of the sprayer. According to the product description for “Liquid A**,” one such product available at Amazon.com, “Once unleashed, this power-packed, super-concentrated liquid begins to evaporate, filling the air with a genuine, foul butt-crack smell with hints of dead animal and fresh poo.”

“The funny pranks you can pull with Liquid A** are unlimited,” the description continues.

Fairfield police were already on the scene monitoring the carnival when the spray-induced commotion broke out. In their note of clarification, they thanked residents for their patience and understanding and noted, “The safety and well-being of our community remain our top priority.”
