A Fall River man died Tuesday afternoon during a workplace accident in Edgartown, officials said.
Jorge Marcelo Yanza Riera, 34, fell 20 to 30 feet from a set of scaffolding in a residential construction site at 14 Trapps Pond Road, according to a statement from the Edgartown Police Department.
First responders arrived at the scene at around 2:53 p.m. on April 22, where they found Riera on top of a walk-out basement egress where he landed, according to the statement.
The responders moved Riera from the area and transported him to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, according to the statement.
The incident is under investigation by Edgartown police, Massachusetts State Police, OSHA, and Cape and Island’s District Attorney’s office.
