Springfield police are investigating after a woman was found dead near a bike path on Tuesday morning.
At about 8 a.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Hall of Fame Avenue for a report of an unresponsive person near the bike path, Ryan Walsh, the Springfield Police Department’s public information officer, said on X. A woman was found at the scene and pronounced dead shortly after.
The department’s homicide unit and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office’s murder unit are investigating the woman’s unattended death pending an autopsy by the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office, Walsh said.
No further information was released as of Tuesday night.
