Murder suspect arrested in Allston after attempted carjacking

Police say Omar Riaz fled the scene through an apartment window and tried to steal a car nearby.

A Boston man was arrested and charged with murder after fleeing from police in Allston and attempting to steal a car Monday.

At about 7:48 p.m. police responded to 82 Glenville Ave. in Allston for a “possible domestic violence incident,” Boston Police officials said in a release. They found a victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been made public.

Omar Riaz, 26, was eventually apprehended near 50 Quint Ave. He faces charges of murder, attempted carjacking, and resisting arrest, according to officials. Riaz is set to be arraigned in Brighton District Court.

Officers at the scene told a Boston Globe reporter that Riaz fled through a window after police discovered a woman’s body in an apartment on Glenville Avenue. Authorities chased him through multiple yards and streets before detaining him using tasers as he tried to steal a vehicle, they said. Police reported recovering a weapon at the scene.
