Police in New Hampshire have increased a reward offered for information as they continue to investigate the death of a newborn baby girl found in a Manchester pond late last month.

The infant, referred to as Baby Jane Doe, was found dead at about 4 p.m. March 27 in Pine Island Pond, located off Brown Avenue, according to Manchester police.

Police believe that the baby was placed in the water sometime between March 25 and March 27, according to a statement. They are looking for information from anyone who may have seen someone discarding an object into the pond as well as any photos taken at the pond or Pine Island Park during that time.

An autopsy conducted the next day did not reveal the newborn’s identity nor the cause nor manner of death, New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella and Manchester Police Chief Peter A. Marr said in a press release. Additional tests are ongoing, and authorities are still treating the case as a suspicious death investigation, police said.

Manchester police said April 2 they had received about 50 leads but that they still need the public’s help. In addition to details from anyone at the pond, they are also looking for information about anyone who was pregnant at the time but is no longer pregnant and does not have a newborn, police said.

The Manchester Crimeline initially offered a $2,500 reward for breakthrough information about Baby Jane Doe, but they have now doubled that reward to $5,000, according to a police statement.
