Authorities are investigating an early morning crash in Northbridge Monday that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old from Milford.
Northbridge police said officers responded to the single-vehicle crash on Quaker Street, near School Street and Quaker Lane, around 4:15 a.m. First responders found the car, which police said “sustained heavy damage to the roof,” down an embankment. The driver was trapped inside.
The driver, later identified as 18-year-old Maverick Wescott, of Milford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the initial investigation indicates the car was traveling south on Quaker Street at a high speed when it lost control, left the roadway, flipped over the guardrail, and struck a tree. The collision with the tree crushed in the roof, police said.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
