Boston police warn residents after string of break-ins near BU, BC

Boston police are urging residents in the area of Allston and Brighton to be on alert after a string of break-ins near Boston University and Boston College.
The department said the increase in incidents include both attempted and successful residential break-ins.
“These incidents are under active investigation, and community awareness is key to preventing further criminal activity,” the department said. “We urge all community members to remain alert and take simple but effective steps to protect their homes and belongings.”
According to WBZ, the break-ins have been occurring since Feb. 13 with the perpetrator mostly targeting cash and jewelry. The most recent incident was on Radnor Road in Brighton on April 3.

Boston police are urging residents to keep doors and windows locked even when at home, install motion-activated lighting near entryways, avoid leaving valuables in plain sight, and to consider home security systems or surveillance.
Police encourage anyone who observes suspicious activity to call 911 immediately; anyone with information about the incidents can contact detectives at (617) 343-4256 or to share tips anonymously by calling 1 (800) 494-TIPS.
