An East Bridgewater teenager died early Sunday morning in a single-car crash in Middleborough, officials said.
Local emergency personnel responded to a report of the crash on Marion Road at about 2:37 a.m., according to a statement from the Middleborough police and fire departments.
The car had apparently struck a tree, and while bystanders had been able to remove a passenger from the car, the driver was still trapped inside.
Firefighters then used hydraulic cutting tools to free the 18-year-old driver. He was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, officials said. The passenger was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
