Seven people were displaced and one dog was killed after a fire ripped through a Dorchester triple decker Tuesday night.
According to the Boston Fire Department, the fire began in the basement of the multi-family home at 15 Bruce St. around 7:30 p.m., burning up through the building to the roof.
Firefighters had to work around wires in front of the building to knock down the 3-alarm blaze, using multiple ladders to access the building.
The department said the fire displaced five adults and three children, who are being assisted by the Red Cross. Three dogs were also displaced and one did not survive, according to the department.
No other injuries were reported.
The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damages. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
