Officials in Somerville are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a suspicious fire “involving a portable toilet” that broke out early Saturday morning near Davis Square.
The Somerville Fire Department said the blaze occurred at 68 Dover St. just before 5 a.m.
“This is one of several suspicious fires that have occurred in the neighborhood in the past year,” the department said.
Officials asked residents of Day Street, Dover Street, Orchard Street, and Meacham Road to check their home security cameras for the presence of any pedestrians walking through the neighborhood between 12 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
Anyone with “useful footage” or with information about the fire is being urged to contact Captain Tim Bakey at 617-625-6600, ext. 8405 or at [email protected].
