Wakefield shooting victim was set to testify at murder trial

Documents show that the victim, who is a co-defendant in a 2021 murder trial that was scheduled for Wednesday, resides at a residence where human remains were discovered in 2019.

A man who was shot in a double shooting in Wakefield on Tuesday night is a co-defendant in a murder trial that was set to take place on Wednesday.

The Wakefield Police Department is investigating the incident that occurred just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday on Lakeshore Drive, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that it appears to have been an isolated incident and that the victims were targeted, according to authorities

Wakefield Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment and an update on the investigation.

One of the two victims shot earlier this week was Isaiah Sautier, CBS News reported.

Sautier was charged with accessory after the fact to murder and accessory after the fact to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in connection with a fatal shooting of a Boston man outside a Malden 7-Eleven in 2021, Boston.com previously reported.

Sautier is a co-defendant in a murder trial stemming from the 2021 incident that was set to begin on Wednesday — the day after the shooting — but he failed to appear, court documents show.

Sautier’s attorney declined to comment.

A Medford Police arrest log shows that Sautier was arrested in September 2024 for allegedly tampering with evidence and intent to distribute class B drugs. The log also confirms Sautier’s address as 15 Lakeshore Drive.

That same address was the site of a former sober home where decomposing human remains were found in June 2019. Property records show that Sautier’s parents Patrick and Lusia purchased the home the month before, in May 2019.

The sober home’s owner pleaded guilty to fraud last year, Boston.com previously reported.
