An ICU nurse from Salem Hospital was severely injured in an ATV accident last week during a trip to Thailand.
Sierra Fairhurst, 23, suffered facial injuries, a brain bleed, and multiple broken bones and was sent to a local hospital to undergo surgery, according to a GoFundMe page for Fairhurst. Fairhurst’s Social Security card, her passport, and her identification card all went missing in the confusion of packing luggage and moving to the hospital.
“It is imperative that once she is stable she gets to come home to Boston and receive the best care and recover at home with her family,” the GoFundMe read.
According to the GoFundMe, which has raised over $42,000, her mother and brother, Zoe and J, arrived in Thailand on March 15 and are currently helping Sierra transfer to a hospital in Bangkok.
With no passport, Sierra’s transfer to the hospital has been difficult. Zoe has been waiting for the Embassy to open to potentially assist the family, according to the GoFundMe.
“This is an amazing young woman with a strong family behind her, but they really need help right now,” the GoFundMe read.
