A man who was found unresponsive on a Rhode Island hiking trail March 7 has been identified as an Uxbridge resident in his 60s.
Edward Clish, 62, was fatally injured on the Nipmuc Trail in Burrillville, R.I. and was found under a tree branch by his family, WPRI reported.
Clish was pronounced dead after being taken to Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., according to WJAR.
Burrillville Police and the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating Clish’s death, WPRI said.
The incident may have been caused by high winds across the region that same day, which damaged property and left thousands without power, according to WPRI.
Services for Clish will be held Friday evening, according to his obituary.
“His memory will be a beacon of joy and a reminder to embrace life’s journey daily with an open heart and an adventurous spirit,” the obituary said. “Ted’s presence will forever be missed, but the impact he made on those around him will never be forgotten.”
