A 12-year-old boy from Boscawen, New Hampshire, is in a medically induced coma after being pinned down by a fallen tree Friday, officials said.
High winds in the area caused the spruce tree to fall onto Kyle Murray as he walked from a school bus to his home on North Main Street, according to a statement from the Boscawen Police Department.
Kyle’s mother, Danielle, was notified her son was under the tree by a girl on his school bus. Danielle Murray told WCVB that she tried to grab him from the bottom of the fallen trunk and she noticed blood coming from his head.
The Boscawen Fire Department responded to the incident and used a chainsaw and a hydraulic presser to rescue Kyle, who was semi-conscious, according to WCVB.
Kyle was transferred from a local hospital to Boston Children’s Hospital in critical condition, according to a GoFundMe page for the boy and his family. He was found to have brain bleeds, a spleen laceration, bleeding in his bladder, and multiple broken and fractured bones, among other injuries.
The GoFundMe has raised over $42,000 since its creation on March 8, nearly reaching its goal of $50,000.
