A Quincy animal control officer was reportedly hospitalized Wednesday after being attacked by a dog.
The animal control officer was responding around 11:22 a.m. to a call for a large, off-leash dog on Granite Street when she was bitten multiple times, Boston 25 News reports.
The dog is being held in quarantine by Quincy police at an animal shelter while an investigation into the incident continues, according to the station.
Neighbors told WCVB the dog was strong and difficult to control.
“[The owner] has had to chain him to a tree with a chain multiple times, so he can have a two minute conversation,” one neighbor told the station. “This dog is super agitated.”
The animal control officer is expected to recover from her injuries, and police told Boston 25 News it is still being determined if charges will be filed against the dog’s owner.
