Lynn restaurant owner found dead in home in apparent homicide

Ilias Mavros, 48, was found dead at home with “apparent signs of trauma.”

Officials are investigating the death of a 48-year-old Lynn man on Monday evening as an “apparent homicide.”

Lynn police responded to a Stanwood Street residence Monday around 6:30 p.m., where they found the 48-year-old man who lived there dead. He was identified Wednesday morning as Ilias Mavros.

Mavros had “apparent signs of trauma,” according to a statement from the Essex District Attorney Paul F. Tucker’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

7News reported that Mavros ran Crazy Buzzy’s Roast Beef & Seafood, a restaurant in Lynn.

His family aims to keep it up and running in Mavros’ memory, his nephew George Fiskatoris told 7News.

Police had been called to Mavros’ Stanwood Street house to conduct a wellbeing check at the request of family members, according to the statement. 

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office and Lynn Police are investigating the death with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
