The man who was injured after a chair dislodged from a lift at a New Hampshire ski resort Sunday has been released from the hospital, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing, officials said.

A chair fell from a chairlift at the Attitash Mountain Resort Sunday afternoon, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office said. The man riding the lift fell 20 feet to the ground, the Associated Press reported.

In an update posted Monday, officials said they returned to the site to continue their investigation of the Flying Bear lift.

Representatives for the lift manufacturer were also present, the fire marshal’s office said.

The lift’s most recent inspection took place in November, officials said, and inspectors “will be reviewing records of past inspections of the lift.”

The Flying Bear lift, which travels from the base of the mountain at Bear Peak Lodge to Bear Peak, was closed as of 2 p.m.

Previously, Vail Resorts, which operates Attitash Mountain Resort, said Attitash Ski Patrol responded to the incident, and that the lift is inspected daily by staff.

“The safety of our guests is our top priority, and we are investigating the incident,” Attitash General Manager Brandon Swartz said in a statement Sunday.

Vail didn’t reply to an additional request for comment Monday.
