More than 50 homes vandalized on Cape Cod, police say

Authorities are asking residents with home security systems that may have captured the incidents in Falmouth to contact investigators.

Authorities are investigating after more than 50 homes were vandalized overnight in a Cape Cod community.

During the early morning hours on Monday, a Falmouth public works employee sanding the roads reported spotting “significant property damage” on Crooked Meadow Road, the town’s police department said in a statement.

Officers responded to the scene around 2:28 a.m. and found that more than 50 properties on Crooked Meadow Road, Pinecrest Beach Drive, Sandpoint Shores Drive, Cottontail Circle, Shagbark Drive, Happy Hollow Road, and Blacksmith Shop Road were vandalized, the department said.

“The damage included mailboxes, light fixtures, basketball hoops, lawn ornaments, and flower containers,” the department said.

Officers were able to use footprints in the snow to track down suspects allegedly involved in the damage and charges are expected to be filed as the investigation continues, police said.

The department is asking for the community’s help as the investigation goes on. Residents who have home security systems that may have captured footage of the vandalism are being asked to contact Officer Michael Kotfila at 774-255-4527 Ext. 4659 or via email at [email protected].
