Homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found floating in the water on Saturday morning near the Andrew McArdle Bridge in East Boston.
Boston police said officers and the Harbor Patrol Unit responded around 7:20 a.m. on Saturday to a radio call reporting “an object” in the water near the bridge, which connects Meridian Street in East Boston to Pearl Street in Chelsea.
At the scene, the officers determined the object was the body of an adult woman, police said. Her remains were recovered from the water, and police said homicide detectives responded to the scene.
“At this time, the victim’s identity and age are unknown,” police said.
The body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and police said the investigation remains ongoing.
