Previously deported Dominican man sentenced for illegal reentry

When his sentence is complete, he will be subject to deportation proceedings, according to officials.

A Dominican man, who was previously convicted of drug offenses, was sentenced to more than three years of additional time for illegally reentering the country, according to a statement from U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy.

Edward Tejeda Pimental, also known as Miguel Carrillo Rodrigues, and also known as Angel Matos, 51, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to 37 months in prison, to be followed by two years of supervised release.

He pleaded guilty to one count of illegal reentry in November 2024, according to the statement. When his sentence is complete, he will be subject to deportation proceedings, according to officials.

According to Levy’s statement, Tejeda Pimental was first removed from the U.S. after a conviction for an immigration offense in the Western District of Texas in 2003. He was removed again following narcotics convictions in the District of Massachusetts in 2008. He was removed for a third time in 2018, following a drug-related arrest in New Hampshire.

Tejeda Pimental is currently facing an additional drug charge in Massachusetts state court following a 2022 arrest for fentanyl trafficking, according to officials.
