Police in New Hampshire arrested two Massachusetts men on suspicion of scrawling racist and obscene graffiti on buildings in Laconia and Gilford on Thursday night.
Thomas Yarbrough, 21, and Jonathan Yarbrough, 19, both of East Falmouth, were arrested Friday and are facing criminal mischief charges after several businesses and city properties were vandalized, NBC News reported.
Police said the graffiti contained “offensive, lewd, and obscene imagery.” Both men were reportedly visiting the area and have no local ties. They were released on bail and are due to be arraigned in Laconia District Court on Feb. 27, according to officials.
Erica Gilbert, owner of Stages Dance Academy, shared Ring security camera video of the incident on Facebook. In the minute-long video, three males in hoodies are seen approaching the business. Two of the men are seen holding what appears to be cylindrical objects in their hands before running off.
“Just appalled that someone would do that and destroy everyone’s property,” Gilbert told WCVB. “We don’t want to destroy downtown. There are kids that are down here, families.”
The investigation is ongoing and authorities could make additional arrests, officials said.
