The 13-year-old who was struck and killed Monday by a pickup truck near a Market Basket in Leominster has been identified as Ezra Millard.
Officials shared Millard’s identity Wednesday morning.
“There is no update on potential charges at this time,” the Worcester County District Attorney’s office said.
The crash, which took place near the Market Basket at 71 Sack Blvd., remains under investigation. Police said Monday the driver of the vehicle that struck Millard, a 2018 white Chevrolet Silverado registered in Maine, remained on the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
Millard was a student at Sky View Middle School and a member of the New England Junior Roller Derby League.
Leominster Mayor Dean Mazzarella called it a “sad situation.”
“The City, the school department, and the entire community will do everything we can to support Ezra’s family and friends during this difficult time,” he wrote in an email to Boston.com.
He encouraged people to donate to the GoFundMe page set up by Millard’s aunt, Michelle Wright.
“Leominster is a city of almost 45,000 people, but we always take care of each other in a small town way,” Mazzarella said.
On the GoFundMe, which has raised $16,470 from 298 donations as of Wednesday morning, Wright described Millard as “an amazing kid, a straight-A student, with a love of art, music, and roller derby.”
“Their life was tragically cut short when they were walking on a sidewalk and hit by a car,” she wrote. “Our entire family is in shock and heartbroken.”
