2 students, staff member burned at Boston elementary school

Hot water spilled onto the students and the staff member in the school cafeteria, according to officials.

Two students and a staff member were burned — one of them seriously — at a Dorchester school on Thursday afternoon, officials say.

A mobile lunch cart with hot water spilled onto the students and the staff member in the school cafeteria, according to a spokesperson for Boston Public Schools.

At 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burn victim at the Henderson Lower K-1 School located at 1669 Dorchester Ave., according to police.

At the scene, officers found two juvenile burn victims — one with serious injuries and another with minor injuries, authorities said.

The school nurse immediately treated those affected and emergency responders took the students to the hospital, the BPS spokesperson said.

Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

“We are grateful for the quick response and are now working to ensure that our students and families have the support they need,” the BPS spokesperson said.
