A teen in Shrewsbury was “physically grabbed” by an older man while walking back from school on Monday, police said in a social media post.
The victim is a student at Shrewsbury High School, school administrators confirmed. They said the student took the late bus home from Shrewsbury High and was walking along a wooded path near Cherry Hill Road with another student when the incident happened.
Shrewsbury police said the suspect grabbed her while she was walking on the path. Police said she “reacted immediately,” which caused the man to release her and flee. According to the student’s report, the man was in his 50s or 60s.
Police conducted a “comprehensive” search of the area using drones, K9 units, and officers, but did not find the suspect. Now, Shrewsbury police say they launched a “full investigation” into the incident. In addition, police said they increased patrols in the area to “ensure public safety.”
Anyone with information on the suspect or incident is encouraged to contact Shrewsbury police at 508-841-8577.
