A corrections officer from Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard is facing domestic assault and rape charges stemming from an alleged September incident, court records show.
Craig Daley, 44, was arrested Sunday and faces assault and battery on a household member and rape charges, according to Edgartown District Court records. He pleaded not guilty to all charges on Monday.
Daley is a corrections officer with the Dukes County Sheriff’s Office, according to state payroll data. He’s been employed with the department since 2016.
A spokesperson for the Dukes County Sheriff’s office confirmed Tuesday that Daley was placed on leave, according to the Vineyard Gazette.
“Our employee Craig Daley has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation,” the spokesperson told the Gazette. “Beyond that, we do not comment publicly regarding on-going personnel matters.”
Daley will be held at the Dukes County Correctional Facility without bail pending a dangerousness hearing, which is scheduled for Thursday, according to court records.
The Dukes County Sheriff’s Office did not return a request for comment Tuesday evening.
