A crash early Monday morning involving five vehicles brought left seven victims with serious injuries and included one fatality.
The crash happened at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 93 South at the 2A exit in Canton, Massachusetts State Police Sergeant Gregory Jones said.
Personnel from the state’s Collision Analysis & Reconstruction section and Crime Scene Services section were on the scene, along with the Canton and Milton fire departments and EMS, Mass DOT, and the State Police Detective Unit.
Seven victims between the five vehicles were transported to area hospitals, where they are being treated for what officials called “serious injuries.”
An eighth person injured in the crash has died, Jones said. He has been identified as Peter Webb, a 55-year-old man from Weymouth.
