Two people were hit by a school bus outside of a Jamaica Plain school on Friday, a Boston Police Department report said.
The crash happened around 3:03 p.m. on Dec. 6 at 40 Pershing Road, the location of Curley Lower School. When police arrived at the school officers said they found one of the victims lying on the ground. The other victim, the adult, was “awake and alert,” standing up near the crash, the report said.
According to the report, the adult victim told officers he was escorting the juvenile victim to his afternoon bus. As they were waiting on the sidewalk, the adult told officers he heard and saw the bus accelerate toward them. The adult said he was “unable to avoid the bus” and it pinned him against the fence, while the bus ran over the other victim, the report said.
A witness listed in the report, a school employee, said they saw the bus “crashing through the fence” and heard screaming as people ran behind the bus.
First responders took both victims to local hospitals with “non-life threatening injuries,” the report said.
A Boston Public Schools administrator arrived at the crash to investigate the incident, the police report said. Officers reported that the crash “heavily damaged” the front bumper of the bus.
Police listed one suspect on the report, but it is unclear who the suspect is and if police arrested them. Administrators for Curley Lower School and Boston Public Schools did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
