Watch: Jon Stewart reacts to Biden’s pardon, and spotlights a Mass. rep

Stewart played a clip of the Rep. Jim McGovern to illustrate his point.

BIDEN PARDON:

Following news of Joe Biden’s sweeping pardon of his son Hunter on Sunday, Jon Stewart poked fun at the president and what he saw as the hypocrisy surrounding the president’s decision.

The pardon, which shields Biden’s son from prosecution for years of federal crimes he might have committed, comes after Biden’s previous pledges not to grant him clemency.

“Biden did make this line of attack particularly available seeing as how he spent so long saying he wouldn’t do it,” Stewart said.

In the segment, Stewart used a clip of Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern to show how “Democrats made Biden’s pledge to not pardon Hunter the foundation of their defense of America.”

“One political party remains committed to the rule of law and the other doesn’t,” McGovern previously said during a House Rules Committee hearing before Biden’s pardon this week. “It’s that simple.”
