Prosecutors charged a Holbrook man with driving under the influence of alcohol after he allegedly caused a head-on collision in Braintree, Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrisey said.
Morrisey said an investigation found that Ryan Gorman, 39, was driving his pickup truck west on Union Street early Sunday morning when he allegedly crossed into the eastbound side of the road and collided with an SUV.
First responders arrived at the crash, located near 655 Union Street, around 12:50 a.m., Morrisey said. The driver of the SUV, 18, and one passenger, 21, suffered “serious, but not life-threatening” injuries, the statement said. However, Morrisey said one other passenger, also 18, suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in the hospital.
Gorman faces three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and causing serious injuries along with charges of negligent and dangerous driving and failure to drive within marked lanes.
Morrisey said Gorman was arraigned in his hospital bed while he was treated for his own injuries.
Gorman pleaded not guilty to all charges and posted a $5,000 cash bail on Monday, court records show. Representation for Gorman did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
