2 correction officers brought to hospital after fire at MCI-Norfolk, DOC says

They were treated for smoke inhalation and have returned to work.

Two correction officers were sent to the hospital after a fire broke out Sunday at the MCI-Norfolk state prison where they work.

They were treated for smoke inhalation in area hospitals and returned to work later that night, officials said. They are both back at work.

“No incarcerated individuals requested treatment for smoke inhalation,” said Scott Croteau, acting director of media relations for the Massachusetts Department of Correction.

The fire took place in a cell area. Its cause remains under investigation.
