Durham police are asking for the public’s help in finding a University of New Hampshire student who has been missing since Thursday.
Alexis Garcia, 24, was last seen by friends on Nov. 21, police said. Police said they conducted a wellness check on Garcia Tuesday morning, during which they found his empty car parked at the Scammell Bridge rest area on Route 4 in Durham.
Police determined that the car, a black 2021 Mercedes Benz, was parked at the rest stop unoccupied from Saturday at 8:30 p.m. until Tuesday morning when they found the car.
Garcia is 5’9” with brown hair and brown eyes, police said. He is originally from Illinois and has ties to the US Navy and US Air Force ROTC, according to police.
Durham police said they do not believe foul play is involved in Garcia’s disappearance, but are investigating the incident.
If anyone has information on Garcia’s whereabouts, Durham police said to contact them at [email protected].
