A Montachusett Regional Transit Authority bus struck three students at Mount Wachusett Community College Tuesday morning, campus police said.
The incident happened around 7:50 a.m. in Lot B of the Community College’s Gardner campus, police said in a statement posted to Facebook. The bus was attempting to make a turn near the stop, according to police.
First responders evaluated the three students and took them to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, the statement said. Police said the students were all “alert and communicating” with officers. The college is in touch with family members of the students and “offered support” to those who witnessed the crash, police said.
“We recognize that incidents like this are traumatic – especially to those directly involved or who witnessed this event,” the statement said. “The College is making counselors available throughout the day for any community member who needs additional support or who would like to talk.”
MART said they are cooperating with local law enforcement regarding the incident, Boston 25 News reported.
“The three students we understand were injured in the accident and their full recovery is our only concern,” MART said in a statement to Boston 25 News.
The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority did not immediately reply to Boston.com’s request for comment on the incident.
