A Northampton man was struck and killed by a car in a Big Y parking lot on Saturday afternoon, prosecutors said.
The Northwestern District Attorney’s office issued a statement on the crash, which said that a car driving west in front of the grocery store around 3:30 p.m. struck the victim.
The victim, who was 77, was walking back to his car along the road next to the sidewalk, investigators told the DA.
According to the DA, Northampton police, along with State police detectives, are investigating the incident. The driver, a 61-year-old Northampton woman stayed on the scene and authorities “immediately” suspended her license, the statement said.
