Police called to Boston school over man touching students outside

The man allegedly touched one student’s chest and asked, “Yo bro, do you work out?”

Boston Public Schools has ramped up security around a Back Bay campus as police investigate a man accused of inappropriately touching students.

“We have been made aware of recent incidents involving a suspicious individual who inappropriately touched a few of our students as they transitioned between buildings at the Snowden International School,” a BPS spokesperson said in a statement. “The Boston Police Department was immediately notified in each case and the incidents are under investigation.”

Around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Boston police received word of a man talking to students as they entered and exited the school, according to a police report. The man had been seen in the area before and approached two students, police noted.

The students reportedly told officers the man asked for their phone numbers, and one of the students said he provided a fake number. The other texted the man but said he cut contact and blocked the man’s number after he began acting “weird.”

The man also allegedly touched a student’s chest and asked, “Yo bro, do you work out?”

The man’s name was redacted in the police report, though his estimated age was listed as between 25 and 30 years old. According to the report, officers broadcast the man’s description and circulated photos of him among Boston police units.

Boston Public Schools said it is working closely with police and emphasized student and staff safety. The district’s Safety Services department will increase its presence around campus in the coming days, according to BPS.

“We are also encouraging families to remind students about the importance of being aware of their surroundings and reporting any concerning behavior to their school,” the spokesperson said.
