Pedestrian airlifted to hospital after being hit by car in Taunton

The man, who is estimated to be in his 60s or 70s, was struck Wednesday evening.

A pedestrian who was struck by a car Wednesday in Taunton was transported by MedFlight to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. in the area of 11 Court St. When the Taunton Police Department responded to the scene, they found a man suffering from significant injuries after being hit by a 2012 Nissan Altima. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and has cooperated with investigators.

The man, whose name has not been released, is white, approximately 60-70 years old, and “may be a member of the homeless population,” police said

The Taunton Police Patrol Division, along with the Taunton Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and the Taunton Police Detective Division, are investigating the crash.
