A pedestrian was killed Wednesday afternoon when an SUV hit her in Weymouth, officials say.
The 78-year-old Weymouth woman, who was hit in the area of 314 Washington St., was taken to South Shore Hospital in an ambulance, according to a statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
She was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m. — about half an hour after the crash.
Update: In a subsequent release, the DA’s office identified the victim as Harjit Thakral.
The SUV’s driver remained at the scene, the statement said, and no charges were immediately filed.
Weymouth police and the DA’s office continue to investigate the incident.
