Close to one week after Stop & Shop announced a cyberattack affecting its stores, inventory on shelves remains limited.
Even though stores remain open, the shopping experience may not be up to par.
“Customers may continue to see more limited inventory than usual for certain products as the issue and our mitigation efforts have impacted the shipment of select products to our stores,” Stop & Shop said in a statement on Thursday.
Stop & Shop said it is working to restock the shelves in the “coming days.”
“Stop & Shop is committed to serving our customers, and we appreciate their patience and understanding,” the company said in a statement.
Last Friday, the parent company Ahold Delhaize said they detected a cybersecurity issue within their U.S. systems, prompting an investigation.
The company was vague when defining what processes were threatened during the attack. However, it said it affected some pharmacies, e-commerce online, and product deliveries.
On Monday, WCVB reported that signage inside a Stop & Shop in Revere warned shoppers that the technology outage could result in some product delivery delays.
“We are working to restock our shelves as quickly as possible,” the sign said.
