Video shows moment equipment fell to the ground at South Station

The rigging, which fell from One Financial Center across the street, came very close to hitting commuters last Friday.

A Boston Police surveillance video shows just how close a piece of rigging equipment came to hitting commuters on their way to South Station last Friday. 

In the video, a piece of metal seems to fall from the sky and hit the ground, narrowly missing people as they enter the train station’s busy entrance. 

An investigation is underway after the scaffolding plank fell from One Financial Center, a 46-story skyscraper across the street from the station. 

No one was hurt in the incident.

City inspectors and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials responded to the scene.

The scaffolding plank fell from the roof of One Financial Center Friday evening. The contractor has since removed all scaffolding plants from the building. 

OSHA says it is looking into the matter but has no additional information.
